The Gate of Memory is partnering with La Resistencia, Tsuru for Solidarity, YURI Education Project, The Henri and Tomoye Takahashi Charitable Foundation, Nikkei Uprising and other organizations to be announced. The anthology is available at Workshops 4 Gaza’s Open Books store.
La Resistencia a grassroots organization led by undocumented immigrants and people of color that have been oppressed by the immigration enforcement system. La Resistencia fights to shut down the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma. No more deportation and family separations.
Tsuru for Solidarity is a nonviolent, direct action project of Japanese American social justice advocates and allies working to end detention sites and support directly impacted immigrant and refugee communities that are being targeted by racist, inhumane immigration policies. We stand on the moral authority of Japanese Americans who suffered the atrocities and legacy of U.S. concentration camps during WWII and we say, “Stop Repeating History!”
Nikkei Uprising is a collective of Nikkei and Japanese folks in Chicago organizing against all forms of incarceration, from immigrant detention to prisons, with an abolitionist lens. We reject the narrative of the model minority myth and seek to build solidarity with communities that have been directly impacted by incarceration and Japanese imperialism. We build community with other Nikkei invested in the liberation of all people, rooted in conversations that tie our own communities’ histories to incarceration and state violence.
YURI creates educational resources and experiences for cultural institutions, teachers, and PK-12 students. With a specialty in creating curricula on Asian American histories and stories, YURI aims to teach the power of coalition building in order to create understanding across diverse communities. By expanding the historical narrative, we believe knowledge can create bridges rather than division.
Workshops 4 Gaza is a group of autonomous writers, artists, and educators organizing online classes and workshops to raise money for Palestinians.
The Henri and Tomoye Takahashi Charitable Foundation is dedicated to the mission of supporting the Japanese American community and aims to foster friendly relations between the United States and Japan through cultural and educational projects
